Q + A

What will the weather be like in South Africa?

January in Cape Town falls right in the middle of summer. Expect hot days, with temperatures often soaring up to 35°C (95°F) — especially in Stellenbosch. However, evenings tend to cool down quite a bit, sometimes dropping to around 17°C (63°F). Light, breathable clothing is ideal for daytime, but it’s a good idea to bring a warmer layer for the evenings. That being said, Cape Town is known for its unpredictable weather — often delivering four seasons in one day — so it’s best to be prepared for anything.

When should I RSVP?

20 July 2025. We know it's soon, but since our guests will be travelling from all over the world, we would like to finalize travel arrangements and numbers as soon as possible.

Is there a dress code for the wedding?

Feel free to wear smart casual or traditional wedding attire. Please keep in consideration that the ceremony will take place outside and the reception will be inside.

Is the wedding venue close to Cape Town?

The wedding venue is located in Stellenbosch, approximately 50km outside of Cape Town’s city centre. To ensure convenient and safe transport to and from the venue, we recommend booking one of the suggested hotels listed under the Travel section on our website for the wedding weekend.

Can I bring my children?

Please note that the RSVP will be directed to the invited parties of your family. Kindly indicated if you will be bringing any children under 2 years old on the RSVP questionnaire.

What time should I arrive?

We kindly ask that all guests arrive by 15:30 (3:30pm), as the ceremony will begin promptly at 16:00 (4pm). Out of respect for the flow of the day, we won’t be able to delay the start for late arrivals. Guests who arrive after the ceremony has begun will be asked to join us later for cocktail hour.

Where can we park?

Parking will be available on the premises; however, please note that spaces are limited. We recommend arriving early or making use of the shuttle service provided for guests staying at the recommended accommodation.

How can I get from my accommodation to the wedding venue?

We will be arranging transportation for all guests staying at the recommended hotels. A shuttle service will collect you from your hotel before the ceremony and return you safely after the celebration. Further details regarding the shuttle schedule will be shared closer to the wedding day. Alternatively, we recommend pre-booking an Uber. Uber is available in both Cape Town and Stellenbosch, but please note that it can be difficult to find a ride after 10pm — especially in more remote areas. Booking in advance is the best way to ensure a smooth journey.

Is Cape Town safe?

Like many major cities around the world, Cape Town has areas that are safer than others. The good news is that most popular tourist destinations and wedding venues—especially in areas like the Cape Winelands, the Atlantic Seaboard, and the Southern Suburbs—are well-maintained and considered safe for visitors. As with any travel, basic precautions are recommended: avoid walking alone at night in unfamiliar areas, keep valuables secure, and use reputable transport services.
